Jazz

The South River Jazz Band provides students with an exciting opportunity to explore jazz through performance, improvisation, and collaboration. Students develop advanced musicianship while performing a wide variety of styles, including swing, blues, Latin, funk, and contemporary jazz. Jazz Band members can regularly showcase their talents at school concerts, community events, and special performances throughout the year. Whether you’re an experienced musician or looking to expand your musical horizons, Jazz Band offers a dynamic and rewarding musical experience.

Jazz Ensemble Activity Fees

To help maintain and expand our library of jazz music, all Jazz Ensemble students are assessed an annual activity fee.

Annual Fee

$50 per student

Early Payment Discount: Save 10% when the full annual fee is paid by September XX, 2026 (Date to be updated soon).

Payment Schedule

  • $25 due September 15, 2025
  • $25 due February 15, 2026

Payment Instructions

To ensure your payment is credited correctly, please:

  1. Write your student’s first and last name and the purpose of the payment (e.g., Fall Fee, Spring Trip, Meal, etc.) in the memo line of your check.
  2. Place the check in an envelope labeled with:
    • Student’s full name
    • Purpose of payment
  3. If combining multiple fees into one check, please clearly note each fee being paid.

Jazz Ensemble Concert Attire

To maintain a professional and unified appearance during performances, all Jazz Ensemble members are expected to wear the following concert attire.

Female Students

  • Black blouse or dress top
  • Long black skirt, black dress pants, or a long black dress
  • Black socks or stockings
  • Black dress shoes

Male Students

  • Black dress shirt
  • Black tie
  • Black dress pants
  • Black dress shoes
  • Black crew-length socks or higher (no ankle socks)
