We are pleased to announce that a new SRHS Chorus Director has been hired for the 2020-21 school year. Please welcome Mr. Anthony Thompson-Shaw!

Mr. Thompson-Shaw is a proud Baltimore resident, educator, and performer, originally from Washington DC, he began his love for music and performing at a young age.

During his Middle School years, he began exploring various instruments, most notably the Baritone Horn, which later gave rise to his beautiful and powerful Baritone voice. Mr. Shaw continued his love for the Arts through singing, performing, and later directing, productions in high school and college. While in college, he learned to play over 10 different instruments, trained as a vocalist, and explored theater and stage techniques. His passions for vocal and instrumental music didn’t stop there. While finishing his undergraduate degree, Mr. Shaw developed his artistic portfolio to include graphic design, photography, stage production, videography, and visual effects work.

After graduating with honors from Coppin State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Urban Arts, and a minor in Music, Mr. Shaw’s first teaching appointment was as Band Director at Sallie B. Howard School for the Arts and Education in Wilson, North Carolina. From there, Mr. Shaw relocated back to his home state of Maryland to be closer to friends and family, where he has taught Vocal Music and Theater Arts in Baltimore City Public Schools, grades Pre-K through 8, for the past four years.

Mr. Shaw is President of the Catonsville Chapter of Choir Psi Phi National Music Society, Inc., where he serves as National Historian. Mr. Shaw’s work with Choir Psi Phi recently produced a livestream choir performance of “My Shot,” a tribute concert of the music from the hit Broadway musical, “Hamilton.”
