The South River Music Program includes Chorus, Marching Band, Concert Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Tri-M. All of these programs are supported by the Music Boosters.

Our Music Department Spirit Wear Store has closed. Orders will be delivered to the music classes on December 19th and 20th.
2020 New York City Spring Trip
This year’s Spring Trip will be to New York, N.Y., April 9-12, 2020. The total cost for the trip is $900 for students and $950 for chaperones. Initial deposits are due by December 13 to secure your placement on the trip.
Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Side-by-Side – Dec 11
Congratulations to the following Seahawk Musicians on making the 2019 Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Side-by-Side Festival:
The BSO Side-by-Side Concert Field Trip is December 11th at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Cost of the field trip will be approximately $30. Students from all ensembles and grade levels are encouraged to attend.
An all-inclusive lunch will be provided at Hard Rock Cafe, Inner Harbor. Menu Pre-Order sign up lists are on the “News” Bulletin Board in D134. Please Pre-Order your selection by December 9th. Please plan on dressing up and plan accordingly for the weather.
Five parent chaperones are needed or we will not be able to attend. Please let Mr. Cavanaugh know if you are able to participate.
Jazz Band will perform on Thursday January 9th at the AACPS High School Jazz Band clinic. This will be a field trip during the school day. We will practice Wednesday January 8th from 5-7 pm to prepare. Permission slips and additional details will be sent home soon.
If any of these concerts are canceled due to inclement weather, the weather date is January 10th 6 pm SRHS Auditorium.
Please email Mr Cavanaugh if you have conflicts with afterschool rehearsals in December. Please review the “Fair Share Policy” found in the South River Instrumental Music Handbook.
Concert attire will be distributed this week for new students in all Performance Groups. If your student is wearing the Concert Gown, you will need to have it hemmed. If your student is wearing the Concert Tux, you will need to purchase a white Tux shirt (Orchestra and Band only) and black dress pants (Orchestra, Band and Chorus). A Tux Vest will be distributed.
