Welcome to the South River Music Program

The South River Music Program includes Chorus, Marching Band, Concert Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Piano, Music Theory, Musical Theater Club, and Tri-M. All of these programs are supported by the Music Boosters.

The store will be open today through Friday, March 12th.

In addition to these for sale items, The music boosters purchased (1) logo 3-ply mask for each current music student. If they did not recieve on distribution day, they can pick one up by emailing Mr. Cavanaugh and requesting a pick up time.

2021 Aria / Concerto Competition Virtual Experience
Eligibility Requirements:
-Anne Arundel County Public Schools student
-Member in good standing of a high school performance class (Vocal or Instrumental), affirmed by specific music teacher
-Exemplary musicianship and student conduct.

Google Form Registration Deadline: March 5, 2021 (Forms are available through students’ Google Classrooms)

Google Meet Auditions:
April 7, 2021 for Instrumentalists (1:00 – 5:00 PM)
April 14, 2021 for Vocalists (1:00 – 5:00 PM)

The AACPS Music Office will assign 15-minute time slots to each auditionee. These auditions will be performed live for a small panel of adjudicators. A Google Meet code and your assigned audition time will be sent via email.

If COVID-19 numbers go down by April, we will still conduct auditions in a virtual platform for the sake of equity.

Music Requirements:
-Concerto movement, opera or oratorio aria, or similar selection.
-Public Domain pieces published before 1925 are highly recommended but not required.
-Performance and audition time cannot exceed twelve minutes each
(If the selection is longer than twelve minutes, it must be suitable for being shortened.)
-Performance by memory with piano accompaniment is strongly encouraged. For this year, recorded
accompaniment or accompaniment provided by a household member will be acceptable. Furthermore, there
will be no orchestra accompaniment as per previous year’s collaborations with the BSO for the Young Soloist concert.

May 11, 2021 (Tech Rehearsal: May 10)
