The South River Music Program includes Chorus, Marching Band, Concert Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Tri-M. All of these programs are supported by the Music Boosters.

Towson University Field Trip – October 22
Orchestra families- Orchestra members have a dress rehearsal field trip this Tuesday, October 22nd, to Towson University. Students will be dismissed at 1:30PM from their 4th period classes and will report to D134 for attendance. Bus transportation will leave by 2PM and we anticipate returning to SRHS by 8:00PM. Permission slips are available in D134, on the SRHS Music website, and on the Orchestra Google Classroom.
We need 3 parent chaperones for this trip. Please join us for this fun day of music making in preparation for our Scary Strings Concert. Please notify firstname.lastname@example.org, or Mr. Cavanaugh to volunteer.
AACPS Marching Band Exhibition – Postponed to Oct 23
Due to the prediction of inclement weather, the AACPS Marching Band Exhibition at Chesapeake High School has been postponed until October 23.
We are looking for volunteers to help us with the field show props and equipment from 1:30-9:30pm. Please contact Lisa Davisson with any questions.

Rising Stars Friday Night Lights! – October 25
All band members in grades 5 – 8 are invited to perform with the South River Marching Band. Admission to the game is $5, participating students are free.

Marching Band Picture Day – Postponed
Marching Band picture day that was scheduled for October 23 has been postponed. We will send out an announcement once the new date has been determined. Order forms are available for pick up in the Music Department.
Crofton Halloween Parade – October 26
We will be participating in the Crofton Halloween parade on October 26.
All students need to arrive in bibs and band t-shirts -OR- a Halloween costume of their choice. No masks can obscure vision, hearing, or ability to play a wind instrument. Safety is of extreme importance and no exceptions will be made.
* If a students DOES NOT wish to wear a Halloween costume, they MUST wear their full marching uniform.

Scary Strings – October 30
SRHS & Towson University Symphony will team up for an awesome holiday costume concert titled, “Witches, Wizards, and Monsters- oh my!” This family concert is free admission with a donation of food or money to Harvest 4 the Hungry. Wear your favorite Halloween costume and enter the Halloween Costume Contest to win a prize as the “Most Scariest,” “Most Creative,” or “Funniest” costume winner.
SRHS Orchestra students are encouraged to wear a Halloween costume, but should have a black top and black bottom, with black dress shoes, in the event a costume is not available.
Parent volunteers are needed to help decorate the auditorium and auditorium lobby areas, and to help with food service. A pizza party will take place for SRHS & TU students in auditorium lobby. SRHS students please bring $10 for dinner.

Congratulations to Sarah Ator for making AACPS All County Chorus. The concert will be November 2 at 7pm at Severna Park High School.
Instrumental Feeder Concert – November 7
We will be hosting the Instrumental Feeder Concert on November 7.
We need 10 parent volunteers from 4:30-6:00PM to help with set up and the bake sale before the concert.
Concert Band Rehearsals & Feeder Concert
Concert Band Afternoon rehearsals are set to begin on Weds. 11/13 from 2:30-4:30PM in D134. These rehearsals are for all class and after school Band participants. All Concert Band students should also prepare for the feeder Band concert dress rehearsal for Tuesday, November 5th, from 6:30-8:30PM. This is the only time all Band students from grades 7-12 will be able to meet so your attendance is mandatory. The South River Feeder concert is November 7th, in the Gym, starting at 6:30PM. Student call time (arrival time) is 5:30PM. A bake sale will be provided by the South River Music Boosters Organization as a fundraiser to support the SRHS Music Department.
