Spring Trip

2018 South River Music Spring Trip

Toronto, Ontario Canada
April 12-15, 2018

Mr. Cavanaugh and the South River Music Boosters are excited to announce that the 2018 South River Music Spring trip will be held April 12-15, 2018 in Toronto!  The tentative detailed itinerary is attached below.

Our first stop will include a boat ride to the base of the mighty Niagara Falls, as well as a journey behind the Falls to see and hear the sound of the water from a unique perspective.  Next, we will continue on to Toronto where we will ride to the top of the CN Tower – one of the world’s tallest free standing structures where students will have the chance to test their courage on the glass floor of the tower looking straight down 1,122 feet!  After some free time exploring the shops and cafes in Toronto’s Distillery District, we will head for a delicious Italian dinner.

Saturday morning will be performance day for the South River Music ensembles at York University including adjudication by internationally recognized judges and an onstage clinic with a professional musician.  In the afternoon, we will visit the castle at Casa Loma, followed by an excursion to the Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto.  Saturday evening will be spent at the Medieval Times in Toronto for dinner and a show, as well as the awards ceremony for the performances that morning.

After a full breakfast on Sunday morning, we head for home – exhausted but thrilled with the adventures and stories that we can share.

Our students and chaperones will depart from South River HS approximately 11pm on Thursday, April 12th and will return to the school approximately 8pm on Sunday, April 15th.  Exact times are subject to change as trip plans are finalized.
