Welcome to the South River Music Program

The South River Music Program includes Chorus, Marching Band, Concert Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Tri-M. All of these programs are supported by the Music Boosters.

Upcoming Booster Meeting

The next General Meeting of the Music Boosters is on January 24. We would like to invite all parents from every SRHS musical group (band, orchestra, jazz, and chorus) to join us in the SRHS Chorus Room at 7:00pm for this meeting. We would love you to share your ideas and give us any feedback. We are also looking for your help in a number of areas, some of which are listed below.

We have the meeting notes from our last General Meeting available for you. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Fall and Spring Fees

All groups within the South River High School music program are responsible for the paying of Fall and Spring fees. These fees support the students in a number of ways, including the purchase of music, repairs to and purchasing of school owned instruments, and many other ways. While the Fall fees were due on Oct 1, there are still a significant number of students who have not paid these fees. The Music Boosters are requesting that these fees be paid so that we can better support your students.

We would also like to remind everyone that the Spring fees will be due on Feb 15. If you have any questions regarding either the Fall or Spring fees, please reach out to us at southrivermusic@gmail.com. We are happy to answer any questions that you have.

Spring Trip Update

The second payment ($200) for the Spring trip is due on January 5. Please make checks payable to “South River Music Boosters” with “Spring Trip” and your students FULL name on the memo line. Place checks in an envelope with “Spring Trip” and your student’s name on the outside and deposit the envelope in the locked mailbox outside the Music office.

Remaining Spring Trip payments are as follows:

  • January 5, 2018: $200
  • February 5, 2018: $200
  • March 5, 2018: $225

Passports/Pass Cards

Proper identification is required to enter Canada.  According to the State Department, land travel to Canada can be made with a full Passport or a Passport Card.  The Passport Card is a less expensive option for land travel to Canada. The Music Boosters strongly recommends applying for either a passport or a pass card no later than February 22.

Golf Tournament Volunteer Needed

Do you play golf? Have you ever been a participant or have you helped to run a golf tournament? We could use your help! The Music Boosters would like to setup a golf tournament as a fundraiser. We are looking for a parent to volunteer to chair the effort. You would not be alone. You would have the support of the Music Boosters. We are looking towards late April or early May to host the tournament. If you are interested in volunteering, please let us know at southrivermusic@gmail.com.

Choral and Orchestra Representatives Needed

The Music Boosters are looking for volunteers to represent the choral and orchestra programs on the Executive Committee. If you are interested in volunteering for either of these roles, please let us know at southrivermusic@gmail.com.
